1 YEAR PROGRAM
Becoming Part of a Local High School with ICET
You will be enrolled in a local high school from the very beginning of your stay in Australia. Special ICET programs exist within the local high school, where students study ESL to develop their communication skills in English whilst also taking elective subjects with local high school students. Students also work in Cultural Awareness and Personal Development classes to develop the knowledge to live in our ever-changing international global society and to develop mature social and emotional life skills.
3 YEAR PROGRAM
Complete High School in Australia
After completion of the 1 year program Students are equipped to embark on further integrated studies to complete their secondary education. All subjects taken at this stage contribute towards the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or International Baccalaureate (only available at MLC). ICET continues to provide specialised support to all students as well as advice and assistance in career options and tertiary education, both in Australia and internationally.
SHORT STAY PROGRAM
Fun Classes
The short stay program runs for 2-3 weeks throughout the year and is an exciting way to get a taste of language learning and life in Australia. English classes are combined with regular excursions to various locations in and around the city of Sydney. Students learn the basics and have the opportunity to practise their communication skills out of the classroom too! There is also the opportunity to spend time with Australian students at a secondary school. During their stay, students live with homestay families and experience daily Australian life.
Explore and Learn Excursions
We have combined in-class and out-of-class learning so that students can gain the most out of their short time in Australia. Past programs have included learning about Indigenous Australian culture whilst bushwalking and viewing rock paintings, learning about native wildlife and then meeting them, or even just catching public transport and going shopping. Students have also visited a variety of well-loved places, including the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Taronga Zoo and Manly Beach.
